Designed to be a step up from the entry level Stylus SX100 the SX218 is still a cheap multifunctional device for people looking for a versatile device for their everyday printing, scanning and copying needs. Like the SX100 the Stylus SX218 uses four individual printer ink cartridges which helps give it economical running costs as the Epson ink cartridges can be change independently when they have run out. Epson SX218 ink cartridges cost around £30 when bought in a multi-pack (multi-pack contain one of each colour) which is reasonable compared to it competitors, but the real value for money is to be found in the compatible ink cartridges which are half the price of the genuine Epson products. In terms of functionality the Epson SX218 is a slightly improvement on the SX100, the print quality is the biggest improvement with a SX218 producing great results on a wide variety of documents from text to photo prints. Scanning and copying are much the same, with the scanner coming with photo editing and OCR software for creating editable documents from scanned printed text.
